A Complete 2 Day Salt Lake City Itinerary

The first thing people think of when they hear ‘Salt Lake City’ is ‘The Great Salt Lake‘. The lake is a great tourist and recreational place to explore because of how many different viewing points there are, but that’s not all there is to the city. If nature and hiking isn’t your thing, try out our 2 day Salt Lake City itinerary, where a full day is dedicated to exploring Salt Lake City.

Building in Temple Square

It’s also in a great central location to many businesses right outside the square. It’s definitely a must for a Salt Lake City itinerary. You can find beautiful church buildings, fountains, gardens, and even the most notable: Salt Lake City Temple.

City Creek Center

If you like shopping, or even enjoying the city lights at night, the City Creek Center is a stop you have to make in your Salt Lake City itinerary. The shopping center covers two blocks in the heart of downtown. It’s called the Creek Center because there’s a creek flowing through the area that you can walk alongside while you peruse the shops.

Utah State Capitol Building

You can either park in the city and hike uphill to enjoy the scenic and peaceful views along the way, or simply park at the Utah State Capitol Building. This, like the other attractions are free to enter, so it’s worth adding to the Salt Lake City itinerary.

The building is large in size inside and outside. There are many places to explore, even in the lower levels. You’ll find beautiful and classy architecture inside lined with paintings. Outside, there are fountains and lion statues. It’s even fairly empty during all hours of the day because of how large it is inside. If you’re hungry, you can take a break and have a mini picnic outside with some food you’ve brought. It’s a very peaceful stop.

Wandering Town

Like many other destinations like Venice or Toronto, if you have a GPS on your phone to navigate your way back to your hotel, it’s worth it to just take some time to wander aimlessly. You’ll find many beautiful buildings, nooks, and crannies with art or stunning architecture. It’s the little things that make a city great. You can even take some time to walk around at night or in the evening for a different view of the city. Setting aside some time to explore is a great relaxing way to spend a part of your Salt Lake City itinerary.
